STEPHEN LOMAS: Music

Radio

Sometimes if you just imagine the sound of a steel guitar the song will write itself.
I can see the dust drift ‘cross the road
And the blinkin’ of your break light as you go
Your face in the mirror, just starin’ straight ahead.
I know your lips are moving but I don’t know what you said.

It seems somewhere somehow we both got lost.
We missed the bridge now we can’t get across
Floods risin’ higher, this levy’s bound to fail.
Rain set in for ever gonna wash this house away

(ch) So turn on your radio baby, now you’re drivin’ away
Listen to the songs they’re singin’ all the things I couldn’t say
Find some country station, & roll your window down
Turn on your radio
Turn on your radio

Out in the street there’s children playin’ games
They laugh & yell they call each other names
Voices echo through teh walls like ghosts in every room.
I know a change is comin’ I just hope it gets here soon.

(ch) So turn on your radio baby, now you’re drivin’ away
Listen to the songs they’re singin’ all the things I couldn’t say
Find some country station, & roll your window down
