STEPHEN LOMAS: Music

Mambo

(STEPHEN LOMAS)

Another myth of Saturday night. This one leads our hero to a happy ending, the long way round.
I think this is robably the first song ever to have been inspireed by a pair of board shorts.
For you guitar purists, the tuning is "open C" - CGCGCE.
I’d been shut in I’d been left out I hadn’t got out too much.
My car broke down it broke me up, everything came out bust.
So I tore myself away at last & followed the blinding light
Maybe find a bit of what I need hey that'll be all right..

Well I was doin’ all right I was doin’ okay with a girl dressed all in blue.
I asked her name she told me Angel like it said there on her tattoo.
I got an idea let’s get out of here I said don’t you agree.
From the corner of my eye here comes this guy, I didn’t like how he was lookin’ at me.

(chorus)
Might be the mambo
Might be the samba
Might be the tango
That drags you under
But while you’re waiting, yeah while you’re down,
Look for good things, still comin’ round.

I saw him swing & the very next thing I was face down on the floor.
Well pity me I’m six foot three but he was seven feet four.
I felt a pain then I felt it again & here my memory’s dim
Saw Angel then & her two girlfriends jump up & leave with him.

I found my way to the emergency room Nurse Jane there held my hand.
She patched me up she calmed me down Ifelt like half a man.
They turned me out I was all used up didn’t know which way to turn.
Started walkin’ home I was all alone just lookin’ for a lesson to learn.

But I’m not done yet ‘cause a red Corvette pulled up here my fortunes shift.
Someone called my name it was sweet Nurse Jane & she offered me a lift.
I could tell you more but what a bore besides I’m too discreet
I got sweet Nurse Jane now again & again her medicine’s what I need.

(chorus)
