wigram road

Well this one started about room mates. Some of it’s true... the gelignite story is, the blankets, the deferment.... Now the lawnmower bit  & the second story fall happened to someone else but I assume they’re true also

Remember you back on Wigram Road big room down the end of the hall

Double bed wasted on a single man you had Trotsky all over the wall

The gelignite by your nightstand was more than I could take

Seemed to me like a casualty, waitin’ for the big mistake

Met you at that party, was a strange summertime affair.

You were talkin’ to some Lebanese girl there was a scented atmosphere

We all went out the windows when they came kickin’ in the door

Stumbled round outside on the ground, went back lookin’ for more

(chorus)    Oh… did someone save me

        Sometimes it’s hard to tell

Oh … was it you who saved me

Saved me, Yeah saved me from myself

Then we made our getaway took a car, drove all night

Unsure what we were lookin’ for found the only town in sight

They refused us service held us down tried to cut our hair

They couldn’t get the mower to start so we broke right out of there

We were all up on the second floor Genie said it’s time to leave

We all froze when you stepped out the window some things are too hard to believe

When you hit the pavement you were laughin’ like a fool

Too high to die you said birds can fly, you thought that you could too

chorus)    Oh… was it you who saved me

        Sometimes it’s hard to tell

Oh … was it you who saved me

Saved me, Yeah saved me from myself

Winter came & the days got dark there’s a chill always in the air

We took blankets from the hospital just to shield us from despair

When I got my deferment I marked the days off on the wall

You never did get called up so you, didn’t care at all

Seemed we were gettin’ nowhere, things went from bad to worse

Dishes piled up in the sink bad habits became a curse

Finally everything fell apart we went our separate ways

I picked up all the bits & pieces & threw ‘em all away

(chorus)    Oh… did someone save me

        Sometimes it’s hard to tell

Oh … was it you who saved me

Saved me, Yeah saved me from myself
