his american dream

For the pinheads who one way or another, keep trying to impose their world view on the rest of us. When I wrote this there was quite a cottage industry going on, involving itself with shooting doctors & blowing up women’s health clinics. I used a church in the song because they get hit on occasion too, plus it rhymed.

Might have been a contender

‘Cause lord knows he tried

Kept that frontier spirit

Burnin’ deep down inside

Got an evil feelin’

That he just can’t lose

Like the smell of dog shit

On the soles of his shoes

And the tv holds him

In a blue white stare

He runs his fingers

Through his thinnin’ hair

And he’s readin’ their lips

Got the sound turned down

The smilin’ faces

He can twist to a frown

(chorus)    Justice is blind

        Who can say what’s right

        Pull it into focus

        With a telescopic sight

Got his finger on the pulse

        He works hard  & lean

        Workin’ for a piece of

        His American dream

Been printing up flyers

Yeah he’s spreadin’ the word

He’s givin’ the warning

Yeah I’m sure you’ve all heard

‘Cause things ain’t the way

That they used to be

All because of you

But he’s blaming me

He works in the dark

Knows just what to do

Connects all the wires

the red green  &blue

And he tests the circuits

Till he’s sure they’ll work

And he leaves the package

By the door of the church

(chorus)    Justice is blind

        Who can say what’s right

        Pull it into focus

        With a telescopic sight

Got his finger on the pulse

        He works hard  & lean

        Workin’ for a piece of

        His American dream
